The CVCA Diversity Internship Program is a strategic initiative designed to foster a diverse talent pipeline for member firms, providing access to top-tier candidates from varied backgrounds. According to the CVCA, while there is still room for improvement, progress is being made in advancing representation and inclusion within Canada’s venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE) ecosystem. As of 2023, women now represent 22% of total private equity employees, with 13% holding senior roles. Similarly, racial and ethnic minorities facing similar underrepresentation, now account for 20% of managing directors in investing roles. Efforts to improve diversity are underway, with many firms implementing initiatives to promote inclusivity and mentorship. The CVCA is committed to supporting these ongoing efforts and facilitating meaningful change across the industry.
